Since 2005, our trainers have been providing extended CBT training for professionals who are interested in the application of CBT. Currently, there are three levels of training being provided. The first two levels of training aim to facilitate a professional to become a competent CBT practitioner, and the third level attempts to train professionals to become an effective CBT supervisor. Training is offered in both Hong Kong and Macau, and similar training is run in China and Australia. Trainees are openly recruited and come from various professions, including social work, nursing, psychiatry, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, among others.

Brief Biographies of the Trainers

Prof. Wong Fu Keung, Daniel

He is the Chair Professor of Mental Health and Counselling, Department of Social Work at Hong Kong Baptist University and teaches mental health, social work and counselling. He is a certified cognitive therapist and a Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapists, a mental health social worker and a clinical psychologist. He has rich clinical experience and is a popular trainer and speaker in CBT and mental health issues.

Dr. Chung Lai Ping, Catherine

She is a Lecturer at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the University of Hong Kong. Since 2007, Dr. Chung actively involved to conduct CT therapeutic group and clinical training. On the other hand, she also provides individual counseling service for the people in need. She has great interest in using cognitive intervention for handling the emotional problems, traumatic experiences, parenting stress and addiction issue. She is the Clinical Fellow of the Institute and she is an approved counselor and supervisor of HKPCA.

Ms. CHENG Yin Ping

RSW, is the Institute’s Clinical Supervisor. She is an experienced social worker specializing in pre-school training for children with special needs, and working with parents with children with or without special needs. Ms. Cheng has substantial experience in supervising trainees in using cognitive intervention for handling the emotional needs of parents who have children with special needs.

Ms. Lui Wai Ling, Winnie

RSW and counselor, is the Institute’s clinical supervisor, an honorary lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, and private practicing counselor. She is an experienced social worker, has 25 more years working in Ngo. Her interests include using cognitive intervention to people with emotional disturbances, marital relationship and parenting. Ms. Lui has substantial experience in supervising trainees in using cognitive interventions.

    完成兩年的認知治療課程,不單止深化了我對認知行為治療的認識,也令我更有效和更有彈性地運用當中的心法和工具。起初以為讓個案了解自己的思想陷阱和規條,然後調整便足夠,但經過反覆的個人和小組督導,讓我理解到幫助個案認識自己的慣性反應同時,認知個案的情緒以及改變動機,更為重要。所以對我而言,認知行為治療絕不單止是改變想法的一套心理治療。

    完成了兩年的「認知治療臨床輔導訓練課程」及「認知治療臨床督導證書課程」真的使我獲益良多。在基礎課程中,導師由淺入深地講解認知行為治療不同的應用技巧,並鼓勵我們嘗試親身體驗當中的小作業,使我更能掌握每個小作業所帶來的輔導果效;而在臨床督導課程中,在督導師的指導下,更能提升自己對認知行為治療的認識及學習靈活地運用各種技巧。在每月的團體督導中,我們更能與學員互相交流分享自己的個案進程,集思廣益,藉此增加我們對個案概念的角度和理解,深化自己的臨床應用技巧。總括而言,在這兩年的學習過程中,不但能加強我對認知行為治療的認識,更能提升自己的輔導技巧,增加我的洞察力從而去處理不同的個案。

    參與ICT的課程的感想,如果用一個字形容,答案係「值」。咁講不是求其、不是作狀、更不是因為我正修讀 LEVEL II 的課程,記得未報讀之前,我一樣對於進修懷著很多擔心,返工和照顧屋企已經夠累,還要上堂、接個案、見督導 ⋯⋯ 累是累,但肯定值得。「認知治療」過去曾在大學相遇、認識,對她的印象深刻,但並非深入;多年後經ICT介紹再次相遇,真的重新欣賞和喜歡上她,她也讓我更認識自己;有段時間,自己常不自覺地對身邊的人 發脾氣,事後會後悔懊惱,但又重複發生,學習CBT第一個「值」就是能更認識和幫助自己,我知道自己重視的人、事、物是甚麼,留意自己「四小碟」的反應和自動化思想,反問自己「值得嗎?」、「有咁嚴重嗎?」,對自己 / 他人作更合適的回應;為我真的帶來改變,也改善了與家人的關係。分享到此,其實還有很多「值」的地方,你來認識就會知道。

      • What is the teaching mode and language?

        We will decide whether the teaching mode will be face-to-face or online based on the situation. For the latest arrangements, please refer to the course information in the training services. The course is taught in Cantonese.

      • Where can I find information on registration and payment methods?

        You can find the course names on the webpage under ‘Training Services’. Clicking on them will lead you to the online registration form, where you can find the details.

      • When do courses usually start?

        Courses usually start in July-August every year. For the latest course information, please visit the ‘What’s New’ section.

      • What is the teaching mode and language?

        Mainly face-to-face teaching, with the possibility of switching to online for some special circumstances. The course is taught in Cantonese.

      • Do I need to complete Module 1 before attending Module 2 to 4?

        Yes or equvialent qualification from comparable institutions.

      • Are there any requirements for participants?

        Participants are required to hold the following qualifications:
        1. a bachelor degree, and
        2. completion of the ‘3-DAY FOUNDATION TRAINING WORKSHOP IN CBT offered by Institute
        of Cognitive Therapy (ICT), Centre for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CCBT), Centre of
        Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Education and Training for Chinese People; or an equivalent
        qualification from comparable institutions.
        3. Interview is required.

      • When do courses usually start?

        Participants are required to hold the following qualifications:
        1. a bachelor degree, and
        2. The “Certificate in Fundamental Training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Level 1)” offered by Institute of Cognitive Therapy (ICT) or
        Centre for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CCBT); or an equivalent qualification from comparable institutions.
        3. Interview and/or qualifying examination to test the applicants’ abilities to follow the prescribed program may be conducted.
