What is the process for applying for counseling?
1. Contact the center staff by phone to inquire/register for online counseling services.
2. Centre staff will arrange a time for an initial interview to learn about the client’s needs and concerns.
3. After the initial interview, the case will be reviewed.
4. If the case is suitable for counseling at the center, a counselor will be assigned to follow up with the case and schedule a meeting. If not suitable, the center will provide other appropriate referrals. -
How much is the counseling fee per session?
We offer counselors at three levels, with the following fees per session (per hour):
– Intern Counselor: $300/hour
– Counselor: $500/hour
– Senior Counselor / Counselling Psychologist: $800/hour -
If I / my family member is currently seeing a psychiatrist, can we still apply for counseling through the Cognitive Therapy Association?
If you or your family member is already seeing a psychiatrist, you can still schedule a free interview for an initial assessment to see if our counseling can complement existing treatment, providing more comprehensive support and assistance.

What time slots are available for counseling?
Counseling sessions are generally available:
Monday to Friday:
Morning to Afternoon: 10:00 am-2:00 pm; 2:00 pm-6:00 pm
Evening: 6:00 pm-9:30 pmSaturday:

How many sessions of counseling should be done?
Each counseling session is 60 minutes long. The number of sessions needed depends on the individual’s treatment goals and situation.

Can I help my family member apply for counseling appointments?
Yes, as long as your family member agrees, you can apply on their behalf and provide their information.

Is there an age limit for participants in counseling?
No, there is no age limit. We welcome participants of all ages, including children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. We have counselors at different levels to provide appropriate services based on the participant’s situation.

What should I do if the scheduled counseling or appointment coincides with severe weather conditions?
If the Observatory issues a No. 8 or above Gale or Black Rainstorm Warning, the following arrangements will be made for counseling or appointments on that day:
Black Rainstorm or Typhoon Signal No. 8
– If still in effect at 8:00 am, counseling services from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm will be canceled.
– If still in effect at noon, counseling services from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm will be canceled.
– If still in effect at 4:00 pm, counseling services from 6:00 pm onwards will be canceled. -
What should I do if I need to reschedule my counseling appointment?
If you need to reschedule, please contact the center staff at least one working day before the appointment date by calling (2868-3820) or leaving a message via phone or email; otherwise, you will still be required to pay the expected counseling fee for that session.

What is the teaching mode and language?
We will decide whether the teaching mode will be face-to-face or online based on the situation. For the latest arrangements, please refer to the course information in the training services. The course is taught in Cantonese.

Mainly face-to-face teaching, with the possibility of switching to online for some special circumstances. The course is taught in Cantonese.

Do I need to complete Module 1 before attending Module 2 to 4?
Yes or equvialent qualification from comparable institutions.

Are there any requirements for participants?
Participants are required to hold the following qualifications:
1. a bachelor degree, and
2.completion of the ‘3-DAY FOUNDATION TRAINING WORKSHOP IN CBT offered by Institute of Cognitive Therapy (ICT), Centre for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CCBT), Centre of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Education and Training for Chinese People; or an equivalent qualification from comparable institutions.

2. The “Certificate in Fundamental Training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Level 1)” offered by Institute of Cognitive Therapy (ICT) or Centre for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CCBT); or an equivalent qualification from comparable institutions.
3.Interview and/or qualifying examination to test the applicants’ abilities to follow the prescribed program may be conducted.
