Modes of Training

1. Workshop - Workshop is based on Dr. Aaron Beck’s cognitive therapy approach to understanding major depression, anxiety disorders and other emotional and mental health issues. The presentation includes videotapes, case conceptualization, a case demonstration, skills practice, exercises and role play, among other offerings.
2. Professional growth training - All trainees are required to join our 8 session group to gain personal experience in using CBT. Our trainers act as group facilitators.
3. Skills laboratory - To enhance clinical skills on case work and therapeutic group, the skills laboratory will focus on small group skills practice, interview structure and case conceptualization.
4. Coaching/Supervision - Regular supervision of case work and/or coaching on group work or a workshop is provided to trainees. The participants are encouraged to have a case or group practice in their workplace. During supervision, we encourage trainees to complete at least two cases or group work/a workshop. Our trainers provide clinical advice on case formulation, the structuring of an interview session, identifying clients’ negative automatic thoughts, intermediate beliefs and core beliefs and modifying those beliefs and thoughts. Related behavioral and cognitive strategies are also taught.
5. Group Consultation - Professor Wong facilitates group consultation in the training course. Every trainee gets the chance to present his or her case and receive feedback from Professor Wong and other group mates. The group consultation is a good platform for trainees to improve their case conceptualization skills.
6. Clinical seminars and workshops - Overseas and local CBT expert will be invited to conduct seminars and workshops by ICT. Trainees are encouraged to join these seminars and workshops to learn specialized CBT skills. Discounts will be given to trainees for enrolling in these activities.
